SmartSpace Gallery is proud to display the artwork of Kenda Francis. Kenda is a third generation San Diego Native with exhibitions spanning the Coastline of California. Her enduring love of painting has been 35 years strong, and over 200 pieces long. Kenda’s impressionist/surrealist work is recognized by its powerful imagery and advocacy for animals and their environments. Most large-scale works are wildlife oriented, inspired by extensive travels, conservation concerns and animal companions she has lived with and loved. Smaller works incorporate a variety of media investigating natural subject matter, abstraction and the influence of Japanese characters and style. Graffiti and cubism are concepts Kenda is currently exploring.
Kenda earned her Bachelors of Art in Painting, Printmaking and Photography from San Diego State University and a Masters of Art in Painting from California State University Chico. She has also earned an Associates Degree in Zoology and two teaching credentials. Kenda currently teaches art at the secondary level in San Diego.
